Here are four ways to get fast free traffic to you affiliate marketing blog or offer without having to wait for Google SEO ranking algorithms to work their magic.

Youtube

As I’m sure you know, youtube is the second largest search engine in the world after its parent, the giant Google. So how can you use Youtube to generate traffic? There’s a couple of simple ways you can use to direct people to your website; the first being the ubiquitous link in the video description linking to your site. This can bring you some traffic if your video becomes popular enough, the popularity of which you can greatly improve a few simple ways which I will elaborate on further down in this post (see below). The other simple way to bring traffic to your site from Youtube is to tell people about it in your video – maybe describe an offer you have on your site for a certain lead magnet (see here for help with this) or other reason to visit your website to receive this lead magnet. These can be used in conjunction, for example, mentioning in your video to receive the free offer the viewer just needs to click on the video in the description. This is extremely powerful – if you can give a viewer of your Youtube video a reason to click on your link during your video, the level of interaction increases many times over and can lead to serious traffic.

So how do I get people to my Youtube channel?

I guess the question that may come to mind for you is how do you get views on your Youtube video. More than big enough a topic for another article, or even an entire website, when you are starting out, here are a few basic tips to get you moving.

Promotion in the first twenty four hours is key. You may have seen some of the big entrepreneurs such as Ed Mylett offering goodies to those who comment within minutes of a video being uploaded, and encouraging liberal use of like and/or subscribe. So you don’t have anything to offer on that scale? That scale isn’t really necessary when you are starting out – just get enough of your friends to like, and more importantly comment on the video and watch it and Youtube’s algorithm will help with your promotion. Though the odds of a genuine viral growth first up video aren’t that high, promoting in the first 24 hours is the

Udemy

Have you heard of Udemy? If you’re in the making money online space, by now I’m sure you have. Udemy offers many, many online courses in a wide variety of subjects, and receives a monster volume of traffic. If you have the time and commitment to create a short, free course, all of a sudden you become visible to this vast, quality group of potential customers. What’s more, throughout the course, there’s nothing stopping you referring to your website in order for course students to download important materials for the course. You gain an instant audience and if you choose to be on camera for the course it’s a great way to build rapport and trust with your future customers. It’s also a fantastic way to build your email list – check out my blog post here for the importance of that.

Podcasts

Don’t have an existing podcast? Not many people do. That’s not a problem. There are a number of podcasters out there, with varying audience sizes, desperate for new people to interview and if you can prove to them that you would be able to add value to their show then there’s no reason they won’t have you on. So what’s the benefit to you? Most podcasters will allow you to let their audience know who you are, and to briefly advertise your website. What’s more, if you are really able to add value during the podcast, this begins the know, like, trust sequence of people getting to know you and your content.

Facebook Groups

Facebook groups are a fantastic way to help out people in your niche. Say, for example that your niche is pet accessories. There are so many pet groups out there it’s not funny, and they all have people that ask questions that are relevant and trending. This is great for you for two reasons: One, it can give you great ideas for new content for your site, especially questions that are asked regularly. Secondly, it’s a great opportunity to begin the know, like trust sequence – and if you have answered the specific question it may be possible to link to your own site for the solution. So not only can you drive traffic; you can do research and build rapport while you are at it.

Conclusion

This is a short but by no means exhaustive list of some actionable ways to build up traffic to your site in a hurry. Youtube especially can be a fast way to build traffic – realistically Udemy, unless you already have a course will take longer. Podcasts are a great way to bring in initial targeted traffic and Facebook Groups are a perennial favourite, even if they do require some monitoring and work.

While you are using these techniques, it’s also worth considering improving your SEO as best you can while you are at it. There’s no downside to improving the on-page SEO of your site, assuming you have one. It will take longer, but really there’s no substitute in the long run (6-12 months +) for Google traffic that is looking for the specific keywords that relate to your content, and ultimately your affiliate offers. I’ve written an extensive guide for Affiliate marketers on SEO traffic on this site here, it’s well worth a look.
